Royal St David's - more affectionately known as 'Harlech' - is a truly unique place. Golf has been played here since 1894 when Harold Finch-Hatton was initially using the land to practice his boomerang skills on the links. The club was generally a second club for people heading to the coast, much like Westward Ho! This is the OG MacKenzie course, a club founded by a number of members from nearby Leeds, one of which was an ambitious Dr who would later go on to design Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne and of course Augusta National. This was the firts course he ever worked on, and his nervous co-members were keen to get the only real household name in the design of golf courses up from London to inspect his work and provide his seal of approval.
