Tenby Golf Club holds a distinctive place in the history of Welsh golf, conceived by the renowned James Braid, a five-time British Open Champion, evolved to feature 18 holes in 1907. It also played a crucial role as a founding member of the Welsh Golfing Union. When we arrived at 11pm to total darkness and saw the recently refurbed accomodation, and all the trappings of luxurious staycations we didn’t quite know what to expect from Tenby – perhaps worrying that they prioritised the off-course aspects over the links itself. We could not have been more wrong, and the fact that more people haven’t flocked to Tenby in their droves is simply staggering to us. This course has been extended over time to the current 18 hole routing it enjoys, with 3 holes ‘across the road’ at 15-17. We didn’t play these due to the weather, and i suspect this is the only short break in what is a truly extraordinary run of golf from 1-14. Brilliant green shapes, with rollicking fairways and contours,. What more could you want!?
