The Inaugural Cookie Jar Mixer: Sunday 13th June

The countdown to ‘The Inaugural Cookie Jar Mixer’ is on, and we can’t wait to host you all at Blackwell next month. This will be the day after our Club Championship and the course will be closed for the event all day.

We will begin to publish the tee times for the morning round in the coming weeks. A running order is available below to give you an idea of timings…

8am: Arrival & breakfast

9am: Welcome and first tee

1:30pm: Lunch

3:30pm: Afternoon Round

8pm: Prizes and evening food

11pm: Carriages

If for whatever reason you are unable to attend, please notify us at the earliest opportunity.

Dietary Requirements:

Please make sure you let us know any specific dietary requirements as soon as you can by emailing us here (please note lashings of red wine, or greens rolling at 12 on the stimp do not constitute dietary requirements)!

Merchandise:

We have also partnered up with a few of our friends to offer people playing in the event some discounts. This is not one of those shady discount codes where we get a commission on sales, and the guys at Sounder Golf, Evalu18, and Fescue & Dunes have all been incredibly kind in supporting the event with some special deals. These are detailed within the email you will have received.

Blackwell:

Blackwell is located nearby Bromsgrove in the South West Midlands, a short 5 minutes from the M5 and M42.

The club’s postcode is B60 1PY. This is not to be confused with Blackwell Grange.

On arrival, please report to check-in area which will be situated around the first tee area, just inside the clubhouse so we can give you all the relevant information for the day ahead..

Dress Code & Etiquette:

Blackwell is a small, traditional golf club and prides itself on maintaining those traditions and the spirit of the game. Some of this extends to dress code. As such, knee-length socks are required for those bravely opting for shorts, and collared shirts and traditional golfing attire to be worn at all times. Jacket and Tie will not be required for the day however.

With a full field, 36 holes of golf and a leisurely lunch, we want to gently remind you of the importance of pace of play. There should be ample time, but please be mindful of the group behind you, as well as your distance from the group ahead at all times.

Phones are not permitted for the use of calls around the course or clubhouse. However, the taking of pictures and sharing across social media is actively encouraged. For those needing to make phone calls, please use the car park area or, alternatively, the phone booth located inside the main hallway.

The prevailing government Covid-19 guidelines will apply throughout the day.

Accommodation:

With plenty of daylight in June, it is our hope that you can stay around for drinks in the sun and some informal fun after the golf has concluded. For those of you who are travelling we have detailed some accommodation options which will be suitable nearby.

I know from those of you who have contacted us already that arranging overnight accommodation will be a popular option, and we look forward to celebrating well into the evening with you!

We will be around on Monday morning and able to host a few people who are looking to play a little more golf on an informal basis. If this appeals, please let us know as soon as possible.

Accommodation options that we would recommend for Sunday 13 JUN (others available):

Holiday Inn: Bromsgrove – £55 per night – 10 minute taxi ride away

Vernon Arms: Hanbury – £95 per night – 15 minute taxi ride away

Stone Manor: Stone – £137 per night – 20 minute ride away

*cars can be left overnight at the golf club if required

**If you have a reservation at Bromsgrove Hotel & Spa – we would urge you to cancel this as it is our understanding that the hotel has ceased trading (despite the fact that reservations appear to still be open on their website).

We can’t wait to see you all at the Inaugural Mixer on Sunday 13 June!
